Letter Regarding Publication of
Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Visit to
Qinghai and Tibet
Royal Embassy of the
Kingdom of Thailand in People’s Republic of China:
With all out respect, China
International Publishing Group (CIPG) would like to discuss
issues regarding publication of picture album on Her Royal
Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s visit to Qinghai and
Tibet in this letter:
With the help of your embassy, two
reporters with CIPG recently joined the group of the Princess’s
visit to Qinghai and Tibet, and interviewed and photographed all
along the way for preparation of the publication of the picture
album. At present, all pictures have been sent to your embassy,
and texts are under the process of our composition and
translation.
I Publisher of the Picture
Album
China International Publishing
Group, also known as China Foreign Languages Publishing and
Distribution Administration in China, is under the
administration of State Council Information Office, People’s
Republic of China. China’s largest publisher and distributor of
foreign language publications, CIPG consists of seven publishing
houses, four periodicals, and China.org.cn, a website run by the
group. Under the supervision of CIPG, the picture album of the
Princess’s visit to Qinghai and Tibet will be published by China
Pictorial Publishing House, one of the seven publishing houses.
Publication of the picture album
has gained support and recognition from your embassy, embassy of
the People’s Republic of China in the Kingdom of Thailand,
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of PRC, State Council Information
Office, People’s Republic of China.
II The Purpose and the Content
of the Publication of The Photo Album
Over the years since the
establishment of the diplomatic relationship between China and
Thailand, the two countries have witnessed frequent exchanges of
visits between the top government officials, increasingly close
non-governmental contact and enhanced traditional friendship
between two peoples.
Her Royal Highness Princess Maha
Chakri Sirindhorn has visited China for many times, and wrote
books to introduce China to Thai people, making a remarkable
contribution to mutual understanding and friendship between the
two countries. Chinese people are full of admiration and respect
for Her Royal Highness, a most special envoy representing The
Kingdom of Thailand in China. Publication of this picture album
will greatly help the two countries to deepen mutual
understandings and enhance friendship.
Planned to publish a Chinese-Thai
version, the picture album will record the Princess’s visit to
Qinghai and Tibet with plenty of pictures and beautiful texts.
The interview with the Princess on April 8, 2007 will be the
prelude of the album. The main content of the album will be
divided into four parts in accordance with the time sequence of
Her Royal Highness’s visits to Xining, Golmud, On the Train to
Tibet, and Lhasa. There will be altogether about 15,000 words
and 200 pictures in the album. At present, the prelude and
pictures have been submitted to your embassy for examination and
approval.
III Publication
This picture album will be
published in both Thailand and China. Work regarding publication
of this album in Thailand is entrusted to Nanmee Books for
assistance. And CIPG will be in charge of the publication in
China.
Because CIPG has already had
plenty of input for the interview, and such publication process
as editing, translation, design, printing and transportation,
thus, we will fix a reasonable price for the album, based on our
actual cost. The album will carry no advertisements nor serve
any other commercial purposes. If there are still some profits
from selling of this album, CIPG will entrust Nanmee Books to
donate these profits to Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn
Foundation for the cultural exchange between China and Thailand.
After the publication of this
picture album, we will send some to Her Royal Highness and Thai
Royal family.
- Launching Ceremony for the
First Publication of the Picture Album
The picture album will be
completed in May and then sent to Thailand. We plan to launch a
ceremony for its first publication in Bangkok in the middle or
late May. We hope that we could have the honor of having Her
Royal Highness attend the opening ceremony.
CIPG hope that your embassy would
be so kind as to pass all those mentioned above to The
Princess’s Office and get permission from Her Royal Highness.

Regarding: Consideration of
Pictorial Publication Recording Her Royal Highness Princess Maha
Chakri Sirindhorn’s Visit to Qinghai and Tibet.
Royal Embassy of the

It is with the greatest respect
that China International Publishing Group (CIPG) herein request
consideration for the publication of the pictorial volume on the
subject of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s
visit to Qinghai and Tibet.
Thanks to the kind support of the
Thai Embassy, two CIPG reporters accompanied The Princess’s
traveling entourage during their recent visit to Qinghai and
Tibet. During the trip, interviews were conducted and
photographs taken in preparation for the publication of the
pictorial volume. All photographs being considered for
publication have been forwarded to your embassy, and the text
content is now being composed and translated.
I – The Publisher
China International Publishing
Group, also known as China Foreign Languages Publishing and
Distribution Administration, is under the administration of
State Council Information Office, People’s Republic of China.
President of CIPG is concurrently vice director of State Council
Information Office, People’s Republic of China. China’s largest
official publisher and distributor of foreign language
publications, CIPG consists of seven publishing houses, four
periodicals, and the website,
www.china.org.cn. Under the supervision of CIPG, the
pictorial album depicting The Princess’s visit to Qinghai and
Tibet will be published by China Pictorial Publishing House, one
of the aforementioned seven publishing houses.
Work of support for the pictorial
album project have been expressed by the Royal Embassy of the
Kingdom of Thailand in the People’s Republic of China, the
Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Kingdom of
Thailand, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of PRC, the State
Council Information Office of PRC.
II – Project and Purpose
In the years since the
establishment of official diplomatic relations between China and
Thailand, the two countries have mutually benefited from a
regular exchange of visits between top government officials,
increasingly more productive non-governmental contacts, and an
overall enhancing in the traditional friendship between two
peoples.
Her Royal Highness Princess Maha
Chakri Sirindhorn has visited China on numerous occasions, and
she has authored books with the goal of better introducing China
to the Thai people. Indeed, Her Royal Highness has personally
made a remarkable contribution to the enhancement of mutual
understanding and friendship between the two nations. The
Chinese greatly admire and respect Her Royal Highness, a most
special envoy representing The Kingdom of Thailand in China.
Publication of this pictorial album is expected to continue the
productive effort to deepen mutual understanding, strengthen
ties and enhance friendship between the people and governments
of Thailand and China.
To be published in both Chinese
and Thai-language versions, the album will record and convey The
Princess’s visit to Qinghai and Tibet in the form of many
high-quality full-color images and professionally written text.
Interview conducted with The Princess on April 8, 2007 will
serve as prelude for the album. The main body of the album will
be structured in four sequential sections following the course
of Her Royal Highness’s travels. Those are: The Princess’s
visits to Xining; then Golmud; then on the Train to Tibet; and
her visit to Lhasa. In total, the volume will comprise
approximately 15,000 words and about 200 images. The prelude
content and photos have already been submitted to the Thai
Embassy.
III – Publication
The pictorial album will be
published in both Thailand and China. The task of publication in
Thailand will be entrusted to Nanmee Books. And CIPG will direct
and execute all aspects of publication in China.
Based from the fact that CIPG has
already put required input from interviews, and already in place
are such publication processes such as editing, translation,
design, printing and transportation, based on actual cost of the
total project a reasonable selling price will be established for
the album. The album will contain no advertising, nor will the
publication serve any other commercial purpose. Actual profits
derived from the selling of this album by CIPG will be entrusted
to Nanmee Books for donation to Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn
Foundation for the cultural exchange between China and Thailand.
Subsequent publication of the
album, copies will be presented to Her Royal Highness and all
members of the Thai Royal family.

First Publication Launch Ceremony
The pictorial album will be
completed in May and then forwarded to Thailand Planned late May
in Bangkok is a launch ceremony to celebrate the first
publication. The directors and staff of CIPG would be
extraordinarily honored if Her Royal Highness could permit time
in her schedule to attend the opening ceremony.

herein be forwarded to The Princess’s Office. It is our sincere
hope that Her Royal Highness will consider and grant her kind
support for the undertaking of this project.
